Auction result misses estimated price range

This work of art by John Chamberlain could be acquired at Christies in New York in November this year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale auction, the work Elastic Jesus changed hands for USD 441,000.00 (€ 404,290.43) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 600,000.00 – 800,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Chamberlain achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nutcracker in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 5,534,300.00 (€ 4,742,330.76).

Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne

Dieses Kunstwerk von John Chamberlain konnte im November diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale wechselte die Arbeit Elastic Jesus für USD 441.000,00 (€ 404.290,43) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 600.000,00 – 800.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Chamberlain erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Nutcracker im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 5.534.300,00 (€ 4.742.330,76).
