Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2001 Christies in London held the auction Maritime, which included the work The fishing fleet inshore by John Callow. The price achieved of GBP 4,465.00 (€ 7,485.67) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Callow - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Shipping At Anchor Off The Coast, which sold at auction in December 2006 for GBP 13,200.00 (€ 19,590.45).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2001 führte Christies in London die Auktion Maritime durch, in der auch die Arbeit The fishing fleet inshore von John Callow zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 4.465,00 (€ 7.485,67) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von John Callow mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Shipping At Anchor Off The Coast beobachtet, die im Dezember 2006 für GBP 13.200,00 (€ 19.590,45) versteigert wurde.
