Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2008 Christies in London held the auction Christie's Interiors, which included the work High tide off Boulogne: A French barge caught in a swell off the harbour mouth by John Callow. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 4,375.00 (€ 5,289.70) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Callow - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Shipping At Anchor Off The Coast, which sold at auction in December 2006 for GBP 13,200.00 (€ 19,590.45).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2008 führte Christies in London die Auktion Christie's Interiors durch, in der auch die Arbeit High tide off Boulogne: A French barge caught in a swell off the harbour mouth von John Callow zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 4.375,00 (€ 5.289,70) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von John Callow mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Shipping At Anchor Off The Coast beobachtet, die im Dezember 2006 für GBP 13.200,00 (€ 19.590,45) versteigert wurde.
