Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Putting in for repairs after a gale off the port of Berwick by John Callow was auctioned at Christies in New York in February 2006, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 5,760.00 (€ 4,830.19). Admittedly, works by John Callow have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Shipping At Anchor Off The Coast in December 2006 with an auction result of GBP 13,200.00 (€ 19,590.45).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Putting in for repairs after a gale off the port of Berwick von John Callow im Februar 2006 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 5.760,00 (€ 4.830,19) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Callow auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Shipping At Anchor Off The Coast im Dezember 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 13.200,00 (€ 19.590,45).
