Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2005 Christies in London held the auction MARITIME PICTURES, which included the work Racing schooners anchored inshore and riding out the gale off the Irish coast, possibly Co. Down by John Callow. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 700.00 – 900.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 720.00 (€ 1,062.95) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Callow achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Shipping At Anchor Off The Coast in December 2006 with an auction result of GBP 13,200.00 (€ 19,590.45).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2005 führte Christies in London die Auktion MARITIME PICTURES durch, in der auch die Arbeit Racing schooners anchored inshore and riding out the gale off the Irish coast, possibly Co. Down von John Callow zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 700,00 – 900,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 720,00 (€ 1.062,95) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Callow erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Shipping At Anchor Off The Coast im Dezember 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 13.200,00 (€ 19.590,45).
