Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2001 Christies in London held the auction BRITISH AND VICTORIAN PAINTINGS, INCLUDING SCOTTISH PICTURES, which included the work Bruar Water, Scotland; and Swallow Falls, North Wales by John Brandon Smith. It changed hands for a price of GBP 1,997.50 (€ 3,223.17) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Brandon Smith - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A waterfall in a wooded river valley, which sold at auction in November 2000 for GBP 5,875.00 (€ 9,602.46).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März 2001 führte Christies in London die Auktion BRITISH AND VICTORIAN PAINTINGS, INCLUDING SCOTTISH PICTURES durch, in der auch die Arbeit Bruar Water, Scotland; and Swallow Falls, North Wales von John Brandon Smith zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 1.997,50 (€ 3.223,17) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 1.500,00 – 2.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von John Brandon Smith mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A waterfall in a wooded river valley beobachtet, die im November 2000 für GBP 5.875,00 (€ 9.602,46) versteigert wurde.
