Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2018 Phillips in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work Flag Raising at Iwo Jima by Joe Rosenthal. It changed hands for a price of USD 4,750.00 (€ 3,934.07) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Admittedly, works by Joe Rosenthal have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Flag Raising On Mt. Suribachi, Iwo Jima in October 2007 with an auction result of USD 32,200.00 (€ 22,256.01).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im April 2018 führte Phillips in New York die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Flag Raising at Iwo Jima von Joe Rosenthal zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 4.750,00 (€ 3.934,07) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Joe Rosenthal auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Flag Raising On Mt. Suribachi, Iwo Jima im Oktober 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 32.200,00 (€ 22.256,01).
