Auction result well in line with expectations
The work 'Raising the Flag at Iwo Jima' and Selected Images of World War II by Joe Rosenthal was sold in the Classic & Contemporary Photographs auction at Bonhams in April this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 2,167.50 (€ 1,963.32) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joe Rosenthal achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Flag Raising On Mt. Suribachi, Iwo Jima in October 2007 with an auction result of USD 32,200.00 (€ 22,256.01).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit 'Raising the Flag at Iwo Jima' and Selected Images of World War II von Joe Rosenthal wurde im April diesen Jahres in der Auktion Classic & Contemporary Photographs bei Bonhams versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 2.167,50 (€ 1.963,32) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Joe Rosenthal erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Flag Raising On Mt. Suribachi, Iwo Jima im Oktober 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 32.200,00 (€ 22.256,01).
