Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Raising the Flag at Iwo Jima, 1945 by Joe Rosenthal was auctioned at Bonhams in New York in October 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 3,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 3,570.00 (€ 3,090.37) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Joe Rosenthal have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Flag Raising On Mt. Suribachi, Iwo Jima in October 2007 with an auction result of USD 32,200.00 (€ 22,256.01).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Raising the Flag at Iwo Jima, 1945 von Joe Rosenthal kam im Oktober 2021 bei Bonhams in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 3.570,00 (€ 3.090,37) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Joe Rosenthal auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Flag Raising On Mt. Suribachi, Iwo Jima im Oktober 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 32.200,00 (€ 22.256,01).
