Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Marines Of The 28Th Regiment Of The 5Th Division Raise The American Flag Atop Mt. Suribachi, Iwo Jima by Joe Rosenthal was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in July 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 13,750.00 (€ 11,678.27). Other works by Joe Rosenthal have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in October 2007 by the work Flag Raising On Mt. Suribachi, Iwo Jima at USD 32,200.00 (€ 22,256.01).

Als die Arbeit Marines Of The 28Th Regiment Of The 5Th Division Raise The American Flag Atop Mt. Suribachi, Iwo Jima von Joe Rosenthal im Juli 2020 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 15.000,00 – 25.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 13.750,00 (€ 11.678,27) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von Joe Rosenthal wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im Oktober 2007 die Arbeit Flag Raising On Mt.
