Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Flag Raising at Iwo Jima by Joe Rosenthal was auctioned at Phillips in London in November 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 5,040.00 (€ 5,917.43) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Joe Rosenthal - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Flag Raising On Mt. Suribachi, Iwo Jima, which sold at auction in October 2007 for USD 32,200.00 (€ 22,256.01).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Flag Raising at Iwo Jima von Joe Rosenthal kam im November 2021 bei Phillips in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 5.040,00 (€ 5.917,43) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Joe Rosenthal mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Flag Raising On Mt. Suribachi, Iwo Jima beobachtet, die im Oktober 2007 für USD 32.200,00 (€ 22.256,01) versteigert wurde.
