Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Joan Brown achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in March 2021. In the Contemporary Art auction, the work Zoo sold for USD 52,920.00 (€ 45,065.15) - well above the upper estimate of USD 20,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Joan Brown; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Untitled (Portrait of Jay de Feo) sold at auction in November 2005 with the realized price of USD 78,000.00 (€ 66,157.76).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Joan Brown erzielte im März 2021 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Contemporary Art wurde die Arbeit Zoo für USD 52.920,00 (€ 45.065,15) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 20.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Joan Brown; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Untitled (Portrait of Jay de Feo) im November 2005 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 78.000,00 (€ 66.157,76).
