Auction result well in line with expectations
In November this year Phillips in New York held the auction 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Morning Session, which included this untitled work by Joan Brown. It changed hands for a price of USD 33,020.00 (€ 30,271.36) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 25,000.00 – 35,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Joan Brown - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Untitled (Portrait of Jay de Feo), which sold at auction in November 2005 for USD 78,000.00 (€ 66,157.76).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November diesen Jahres führte Phillips in New York die Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Morning Session durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Joan Brown zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 33.020,00 (€ 30.271,36) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 25.000,00 – 35.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Joan Brown mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Untitled (Portrait of Jay de Feo) beobachtet, die im November 2005 für USD 78.000,00 (€ 66.157,76) versteigert wurde.
