In April 2021 Bonhams in Los Angeles held the auction Made in CaliforniaContemporary Art, which included the work Untitled, 1961 by Joan Brown. The »bidding war« ended at USD 15,300.00 (€ 12,718.20), 53% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Joan Brown have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Untitled (Portrait of Jay de Feo) in November 2005 with an auction result of USD 78,000.00 (€ 66,157.76).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 53 % übertroffen
Im April 2021 führte Bonhams in Los Angeles die Auktion Made in CaliforniaContemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled, 1961 von Joan Brown zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 15.300,00 (€ 12.718,20) und damit 53% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Joan Brown auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Untitled (Portrait of Jay de Feo) im November 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 78.000,00 (€ 66.157,76).
