Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Untitled #113 (Bougainvillea), 2000 by Jeff Burton was auctioned at Christies in New York in April 2005, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 1,500.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at USD 5,040.00 (€ 3,901.23). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Jeff Burton; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Untitled # 113 (Bougainvillea) sold at auction in March 2010 with the realized price of GBP 4,750.00 (€ 5,332.95).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Untitled #113 (Bougainvillea), 2000 von Jeff Burton im April 2005 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 1.500,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 5.040,00 (€ 3.901,23) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Jeff Burton; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Untitled # 113 (Bougainvillea) im März 2010 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 4.750,00 (€ 5.332,95).
