Auction result misses estimated price range

In December 2003 a collector was able to acquire the work A pagan scene, a temple with a priest in the centre, after Desprez by Jean Duplessis-Bertaux for GBP 235.00 (€ 332.85). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master Pictures and Drawings at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean Duplessis-Bertaux achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Choc De Cavalerie in June 2008 with an auction result of EUR 11,875.00.

Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne

Im Dezember 2003 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit A pagan scene, a temple with a priest in the centre, after Desprez von Jean Duplessis-Bertaux für GBP 235,00 (€ 332,85) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Old Master Pictures and Drawings bei Christies in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 300,00 – 500,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jean Duplessis-Bertaux erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Choc De Cavalerie im Juni 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 11.875,00.
