Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A set of four costume studies of gentlemen by Jean Duplessis-Bertaux was auctioned at Christies in London in September 2009, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,125.00 (€ 1,230.66). Admittedly, works by Jean Duplessis-Bertaux have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Choc De Cavalerie in June 2008 with an auction result of EUR 11,875.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A set of four costume studies of gentlemen von Jean Duplessis-Bertaux im September 2009 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.500,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 1.125,00 (€ 1.230,66) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jean Duplessis-Bertaux auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Choc De Cavalerie im Juni 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 11.875,00.
