JASON BROOKS (B. 1968) Karl signed, titled and dated 'Jason Brooks 'Karl' 1997' (on the overlap) acrylic on linen 95 3 ⁄ 4 x 72 in. (243 x 183 cm.) Painted in 1997.
Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Karl by Jason Brooks was auctioned at Christies in New York in December last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,386.00 (€ 1,295.57). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jason Brooks achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sassy in October 2011 with an auction result of GBP 30,000.00 (€ 34,719.29).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Karl von Jason Brooks im Dezember letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.386,00 (€ 1.295,57) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jason Brooks erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Sassy im Oktober 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 30.000,00 (€ 34.719,29).
