Auction result well in line with expectations
In September last year Bonhams in London held the auction Prints and Multiples, which included the work 'Le Baiser à la Wirtembourg'; 'Introduction of the Citizen Volpone' by James Gillray. The price achieved of GBP 637.50 (€ 725.54) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 500.00 – 700.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Gillray achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work ‘Consequences Of A Successful French Invasion... Or... We Fly On The Wings Of The Wind To Save The Irish Catholics From Persecution’ in March 2018 with an auction result of GBP 47,500.00 (€ 54,081.37).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im September letzten Jahres führte Bonhams in London die Auktion Prints and Multiples durch, in der auch die Arbeit 'Le Baiser à la Wirtembourg'; 'Introduction of the Citizen Volpone' von James Gillray zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 637,50 (€ 725,54) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 500,00 – 700,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von James Gillray erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit ‘Consequences Of A Successful French Invasion... Or... We Fly On The Wings Of The Wind To Save The Irish Catholics From Persecution’ im März 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 47.500,00 (€ 54.081,37).
