Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In September this year Bonhams in Skinner Marlborough, Massachusetts held the auction Prints and Multiples, which included the work Blowing up the Pic Nic's; -or- Harlequin Quixotte attacking the puppets. Vide Tottenham Street pantomine by James Gillray. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 800.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 832.00 (€ 832.00). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Gillray achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work ‘Consequences Of A Successful French Invasion... Or... We Fly On The Wings Of The Wind To Save The Irish Catholics From Persecution’ in March 2018 with an auction result of GBP 47,500.00 (€ 54,081.37).
Or... We Fly On The Wings Of The Wind To Save The Irish Catholics From Persecution’ im März 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 47.500,00 (€ 54.081,37).
