Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work John Bull taking a Luncheon: -or- British Cooks, cramming Old Grumble-Gizzard, with Bonne-Chére by James Gillray was worth GBP 2,167.50 (€ 2,585.37) to a buyer in December 2021. This price was achieved in the auction Prints and Multiples at Bonhams in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 700.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by James Gillray achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work ‘Consequences Of A Successful French Invasion... Or... We Fly On The Wings Of The Wind To Save The Irish Catholics From Persecution’ in March 2018 with an auction result of GBP 47,500.00 (€ 54,081.37).
Or... We Fly On The Wings Of The Wind To Save The Irish Catholics From Persecution’ im März 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 47.500,00 (€ 54.081,37).
