Auction result well in line with expectations
In January this year Christies in New York held the auction Old Master & British Drawings, which included the work The Marriage of Jason and Medea (recto); Composition study of an antique scene (verso) by Jacques-Louis David. The price achieved of USD 9,450.00 (€ 8,703.26) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacques-Louis David achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Ramel De Nogaret in April 2008 with an auction result of USD 7,209,000.00 (€ 4,630,652.62).
