Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Lamentation Of Christ, Preparatory Sketch For The Sculptural Group In The "Sacre De Napoléon" by Jacques-Louis David was auctioned at Sothebys in Paris in June 2018. The price achieved of EUR 11,875.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacques-Louis David achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Ramel De Nogaret in April 2008 with an auction result of USD 7,209,000.00 (€ 4,630,652.62).
