Auction result misses estimated price range
In January 2016 a collector was able to acquire the work A Battle Scene, After The Antique by Jacques-Louis David for USD 2,500.00 (€ 2,307.98). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master and British Drawings at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacques-Louis David achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Ramel De Nogaret in April 2008 with an auction result of USD 7,209,000.00 (€ 4,630,652.62).
