Auction result well in line with expectations
The work 'The Beautiful Book' by Jack Smith was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2016. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 17,500.00 (€ 15,964.24) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Jack Smith have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Interior With Figures in July 2008 with an auction result of GBP 51,650.00 (€ 65,621.91).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit 'The Beautiful Book' von Jack Smith kam im Oktober 2016 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 15.000,00 – 25.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 17.500,00 (€ 15.964,24) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jack Smith auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Interior With Figures im Juli 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 51.650,00 (€ 65.621,91).
