Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Musical Painting. Sound + Light by Jack Smith was sold in the Made in Britain auction at Sothebys in London in September 2019. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,250.00 (€ 3,667.24) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jack Smith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Interior With Figures in July 2008 with an auction result of GBP 51,650.00 (€ 65,621.91).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Musical Painting. Sound + Light von Jack Smith wurde im September 2019 in der Auktion Made in Britain bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 3.250,00 (€ 3.667,24) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jack Smith erzielen.
