Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Go, Madame, and Leave the Prodigal 'mong His Husks by Howard Pyle was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in March last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 6,930.00 (€ 6,247.18). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Howard Pyle achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Here, André! A Spy! in November 2007 with an auction result of USD 97,000.00 (€ 66,040.31).
