This artwork by Howard Pyle achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in May 2018. In the American Art Online auction, the work Esmond and the Prince sold for USD 21,250.00 (€ 18,209.08) - well above the upper estimate of USD 8,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Howard Pyle - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Here, André! A Spy!, which sold at auction in November 2007 for USD 97,000.00 (€ 66,040.31).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Howard Pyle erzielte im Mai 2018 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion American Art Online wurde die Arbeit Esmond and the Prince für USD 21.250,00 (€ 18.209,08) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 8.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Howard Pyle mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Here, André! A Spy! beobachtet, die im November 2007 für USD 97.000,00 (€ 66.040,31) versteigert wurde.
