signed with a fly (lower right), signed again, inscribed and dated 'One Evening in Spring Miss Smith reached the/followers round Rees - saying it would/do them good on such a nice evening, but/as soon as they turned the corner into/Lees Road, they met 'Bonnie Warfe' the/milk Horse - Bonnie was usually good/tempered, but when she saw Miss Smith's/Banner, she took fright: Poor Miss Carter (who/wore Pink) was so afraid she fainted and the/people watching had to run for the doctor -/Mr Taylor (the Bank Manager) was on his way home/saw poor Miss Carter - oh so pale - lying/in the Road, was so upset he very nearly/proposed to her in front of Mother, Grandma &/the Aunts - when Father heard what had happened/he was very cross & ordered Mother never to have/anything to do with them - Ladies making exhibitions/of themselves - dreadful and the year was 1909./Helen Layfield Bradley 1969' (on a label attached to the reverse)

It achieved a price of GBP 57,650.00 (€ 72,871.53), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 65%. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Helen Layfield Bradley; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Our First Morning in Blackpool sold at auction in November 2007 with the realized price of GBP 94,100.00 (€ 131,764.35).

Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 57.650,00 (€ 72.871,53) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 65%. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Helen Layfield Bradley; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Our First Morning in Blackpool im November 2007 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 94.100,00 (€ 131.764,35).
