signed and dated 'HELEN BRADLEY/1972' and signed again with a fly (lower right), signed again, inscribed and dated again 'The tide was out at Blackpool so/Mother let George and I take our kite/on to the Sand Hills to fly it, but it/was time to go back to Grandpa's and/all morning Miss Carter (who wore pink)/and the Aunts had been looking out/for Mr Taylor (the Bank Manager). "Why he's/coming after all", said Dear Emily, but/her Mother said she must not wave to/a man, "it was most unlady like" and/she took Emily home another way, so/that they should not meet and the/year was 1907/Helen Layfield Bradley 1972' (on the artist's label attached to the backboard)

It achieved a price of GBP 34,850.00 (€ 42,979.73), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 39%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Helen Layfield Bradley - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Our First Morning in Blackpool, which sold at auction in November 2007 for GBP 94,100.00 (€ 131,764.35).

Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 34.850,00 (€ 42.979,73) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 39%. Für andere Arbeiten von Helen Layfield Bradley mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Our First Morning in Blackpool beobachtet, die im November 2007 für GBP 94.100,00 (€ 131.764,35) versteigert wurde.
