signed and dated 'HELEN BRADLEY/1973' and with a fly (lower left), signed again, inscribed and dated again '"Ha, Good Afternoon Mrs Carter," boomed Mrs/Hope-Ainsworth as she, Bertie and Nellie came/out of their gate just as we were passing on/our afternoon walk along den Lane, "How/very nice to see you - you must all come/in and have tea", "Thank you", said Mother,/"but I think the children would rather go for/a walk", "Nonsense Jane, come along/children", and she took our hands and/led us into her sitting room, where/we had to be quiet and sit on her/horsehair sofa which scratched our/legs. We were given a glass of milk and/a bun, but Mrs Hope-Ainsworth, in spite of/having lots of money couldn't bake buns/like Aunt Mary or mother and the year was 1906./Helen Layfield Bradley 1973' (on a label attached to the backboard)

Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Good Afternoon Mrs Carter by Helen Layfield Bradley was sold in the 20th Century British Art auction at Christies in London in June 2007. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 20,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 21,600.00 (€ 32,053.31). Admittedly, works by Helen Layfield Bradley have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Our First Morning in Blackpool in November 2007 with an auction result of GBP 94,100.00 (€ 131,764.35).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Good Afternoon Mrs Carter von Helen Layfield Bradley wurde im Juni 2007 in der Auktion 20th Century British Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 20.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 21.600,00 (€ 32.053,31) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Helen Layfield Bradley auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Our First Morning in Blackpool im November 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 94.100,00 (€ 131.764,35).
