Helen Beatrix Potter (1866-1943)

Peter thought it best to go away without speaking to her; he had heard about cats from his cousin, little Benjamin Bunny'

Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2005 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Watercolours, which included the work 'Then He Tried To Find His Way Straight Across The Garden, But He Became More And More Puzzled. Presently, He Came To A Pond Where Mr. Mcgregor Filled His Water-Cans. A White Cat Was Staring At Some Gold-Fish, She Sat Very, Very Still, But Now And by Beatrix Potter. The price achieved of GBP 7,200.00 (€ 10,670.85) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00. Admittedly, works by Beatrix Potter have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Gentleman Rabbit With Letter ("Benjamin Bunny") in December 2012 with an auction result of GBP 70,850.00 (€ 87,377.73).
