In March 2010 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture, which included the work Rough Weather by Gifford Beal. The result of USD 25,000.00 (€ 18,482.92) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 25,000.00 – 35,000.00. Admittedly, works by Gifford Beal have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Fish Houses, Winter Day in April 2015 with an auction result of USD 112,500.00 (€ 100,788.39).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im März 2010 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit Rough Weather von Gifford Beal zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 25.000,00 (€ 18.482,92) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 25.000,00 – 35.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Gifford Beal auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Fish Houses, Winter Day im April 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 112.500,00 (€ 100.788,39).
