Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work End Of The Cove by Gifford Beal was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in June 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 12,500.00 (€ 11,330.67). Admittedly, works by Gifford Beal have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Fish Houses, Winter Day in April 2015 with an auction result of USD 112,500.00 (€ 100,788.39).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit End Of The Cove von Gifford Beal im Juni 2016 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 15.000,00 – 25.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 12.500,00 (€ 11.330,67) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Gifford Beal auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Fish Houses, Winter Day im April 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 112.500,00 (€ 100.788,39).
