Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Rolling Stones, 'Caged Ii', Ormond Yard, London, 1965 by Gered Mankowitz was auctioned at Sothebys in London in September 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 938.00 (€ 1,086.32). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gered Mankowitz achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Jimi Hendrix, Smoking - 1967 in December 2016 with an auction result of EUR 67,600.00.
