The work Mayday by George Shaw was sold in the Contemporary Art Day Auction auction at Sothebys in London in October 2016. The auction ended at the price of GBP 35,000.00 (€ 38,991.06), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of GBP 25,000.00 – 35,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Shaw - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Undergrowth, which sold at auction in June 2013 for GBP 79,875.00 (€ 93,228.43).

Die Arbeit Mayday von George Shaw wurde im Oktober 2016 in der Auktion Contemporary Art Day Auction bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 35.000,00 (€ 38.991,06) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 25.000,00 – 35.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von George Shaw mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Undergrowth beobachtet, die im Juni 2013 für GBP 79.875,00 (€ 93.228,43) versteigert wurde.
