Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Gene Davis achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in September this year. In the Post-War to Present auction, the work Black Widow sold for USD 151,200.00 (€ 142,857.14) - well above the upper estimate of USD 60,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Gene Davis; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Legato In Red sold at auction in September 2019 with the realized price of USD 187,500.00 (€ 171,939.48).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Gene Davis erzielte im September diesen Jahres bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Post-War to Present wurde die Arbeit Black Widow für USD 151.200,00 (€ 142.857,14) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 60.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Gene Davis; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Legato In Red im September 2019 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 187.500,00 (€ 171.939,48).
