In November 2017 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Chinese Contemporary Ink, which included the work Contemplation by Gao Xingjian. The auction ended at the price of HKD 100,000.00 (€ 10,766.52), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of HKD 80,000.00 – 100,000.00. Admittedly, works by Gao Xingjian have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work By the Lake in November 2016 with an auction result of HKD 475,000.00 (€ 57,881.92).
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Im November 2017 führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion Chinese Contemporary Ink durch, in der auch die Arbeit Contemplation von Gao Xingjian zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von HKD 100.000,00 (€ 10.766,52) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von HKD 80.000,00 – 100.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Gao Xingjian auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit By the Lake im November 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 475.000,00 (€ 57.881,92).
