Auction result well in line with expectations
In November last year Christies in New York held the auction 20th Century Evening Sale, which included the work Self-Portrait (Very Ugly) by Frida Kahlo. The price achieved of USD 8,634,000.00 (€ 8,363,847.72) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 7,000,000.00 – 10,000,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Frida Kahlo - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Diego y yo, which sold at auction in November 2021 for USD 34,883,000.00 (€ 30,905,466.47).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion 20th Century Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Self-Portrait (Very Ugly) von Frida Kahlo zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 8.634.000,00 (€ 8.363.847,72) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 7.000.000,00 – 10.000.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Frida Kahlo mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Diego y yo beobachtet, die im November 2021 für USD 34.883.000,00 (€ 30.905.466,47) versteigert wurde.
