A top price for Frida Kahlo - as previously expected
The work Diego y yo by Frida Kahlo was sold in the Modern Evening Auction auction at Sothebys in New York in November 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 30,000,000.00 – 50,000,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 34,883,000.00 (€ 30,905,466.47) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Diego y yo is the most expensive artwork by Frida Kahlo that we have observed at auctions so far.

Die Arbeit Diego y yo von Frida Kahlo wurde im November 2021 in der Auktion Modern Evening Auction bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000.000,00 – 50.000.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 34.883.000,00 (€ 30.905.466,47) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
