Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Mr. and Mrs. George Vincent: he facing right in black coat and waistcoat; sky background; she, in high-necked white dress, her dark hair dressed in curls; sky background by Frederick Buck was auctioned at Christies in London in October 2004, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - GBP 800.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at GBP 2,629.00 (€ 3,783.85). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Frederick Buck; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot A young lady, facing right in ruffle bordered white silk dress, yellow sash, blue hat with yellow ribbon in her long curling brown hair sold at auction in June 2003 with the realized price of GBP 2,987.50 (€ 4,293.20).
