Auction result well in line with expectations

In May 2001 Christies in London held the auction Objects of Vertu, Miniatures and Icons, which included the work A young gentleman called Alderman Morrison, facing right in black coat and waistcoat, frilled white cravat, fair hair by Frederick Buck. The price achieved of GBP 258.50 (€ 433.38) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 200.00 – 300.00. Admittedly, works by Frederick Buck have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A young lady, facing right in ruffle bordered white silk dress, yellow sash, blue hat with yellow ribbon in her long curling brown hair in June 2003 with an auction result of GBP 2,987.50 (€ 4,293.20).
