Despite a disappointment, a good price for Frantisek Dvorak
When the work The Young Artist Playing Tricks by Frantisek Dvorak was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May 2013, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 200,000.00 – 300,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 191,000.00 (€ 147,058.82). Despite this disappointing result, The Young Artist Playing Tricks is the most expensive artwork by Frantisek Dvorak that we have observed at auction so far.
