In May 2001 Christies in Melbourne held the auction AUSTRALIAN AND INTERNATIONAL PAINTINGS, which included the work Plastic Garden, Filling Station by Frank Jeffrey Edson Smart. The price achieved of AUD 185,750.00 (€ 111,340.15) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 160,000.00 – 260,000.00.
