In May 2004 Christies in Melbourne held the auction AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL AND CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS, which included the work Study For Motel Swimming Pool by Frank Jeffrey Edson Smart. Admittedly, works by Frank Jeffrey Edson Smart have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Arezzo Turn-Off II in November 2001 with an auction result of AUD 376,000.00 (€ 218,388.93).

Im Mai 2004 führte Christies in Melbourne die Auktion AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL AND CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS durch, in der auch die Arbeit Study For Motel Swimming Pool von Frank Jeffrey Edson Smart zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von AUD 71.700,00 (€ 41.892,00) und damit 30% über dem oberen Schätzpreis.
