Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work F Is For Frances by Frances Stark was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in April 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 3,750.00 (€ 2,408.79). Admittedly, works by Frances Stark have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Image Proof in July 2021 with an auction result of GBP 12,500.00 (€ 14,658.84).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit F Is For Frances von Frances Stark im April 2008 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 3.750,00 (€ 2.408,79) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Frances Stark auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Image Proof im Juli 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 12.500,00 (€ 14.658,84).
