Auction result misses estimated price range
When this work without title by Forrest Bess was auctioned at Christies in New York in November 2013, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 37,500.00 (€ 27,561.37). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Forrest Bess - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Untitled No. 6, which sold at auction in November 2011 for USD 112,900.00 (€ 83,921.80).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Forrest Bess im November 2013 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 37.500,00 (€ 27.561,37) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Forrest Bess mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Untitled No. 6 beobachtet, die im November 2011 für USD 112.900,00 (€ 83.921,80) versteigert wurde.
