Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Search by Forrest Bess was auctioned at Christies in New York in December 2017, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 12,500.00 (€ 10,397.60). Admittedly, works by Forrest Bess have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Untitled No. 6 in November 2011 with an auction result of USD 112,900.00 (€ 83,921.80).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Search von Forrest Bess im Dezember 2017 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 15.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 12.500,00 (€ 10.397,60) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Forrest Bess auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Untitled No. 6 im November 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 112.900,00 (€ 83.921,80).
