This price was achieved in the auction 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Afternoon Session at Phillips in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 30,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Firelei Báez; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Demetrea (from the series Geographic Delay) sold at auction in May last year with the realized price of USD 94,500.00 (€ 88,062.62).
