The »bidding war« ended at EUR 5,000.00 43% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ferdinand Schirren - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Femme devant la glace, which sold at auction in October this year for EUR 10,710.00.

Die Arbeit Sailingboats near a coast von Ferdinand Schirren wurde im Mai 2011 in der Auktion Impressionist and Modern Art bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 5.000,00 und damit 43% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Ferdinand Schirren mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Femme devant la glace beobachtet, die im Oktober diesen Jahres für EUR 10.710,00 versteigert wurde.
